LOCAL LAD SET FOR SUCCESS

Top achiever Matt Willis (16)

Top Ramsey army cadet Corporal Matt Willis is about to set out on the career of a lifetime.

Matt, (16), a student at Abbey College, Ramsey, has successfully achieved a much sought after place at the Defence Sixth Form College at Welbeck, near Loughborough in Leicestershire from September.

The unique programme of personal, physical and intellectual development offered at Welbeck will present no problems for Matt who has been with Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force for the past three years. During that time he learned the leadership, teamwork and social skills which readily ensured his obtaining a place at one of the UK’s top sixth form centres.

“This opportunity is one in a million”, said Matt. “The skills and life lessons that I have learned in the army cadets were central to my securing a place and I recommend it to anyone looking for excitement, challenge and a future with meaning” 

Successful completion of his two year course in computing and electronics will enable Matt to take a place at university sponsored by the Ministry of Defence with a career goal of becoming a commissioned army officer in the Royal Corps of Signals.
