Top Shots in St. Neots

Shelley Stevens (16), Daniel Bolton (15) and Mathew Brown (15)
show off their badges
Three
young people from St Neots are now top air rifle marksmen in the
Army Cadet Force.
Shelley Stevens (16), Daniel Bolton (15) and Mathew Brown (15)
all students at Longsands College, have each achieved a covetted
qualification badge awarded by the National Rifle Shooting
Association for their sharp shooting expertise. |
There
are four available levels of achievement in NRSA air rifle
shooting, the lowest being a skilled shot and all of the
youngsters have exceeded that. Shelley is a Proficient marksman,
Daniel a Master shot and Matthew an expert shot.
The
three meet regularly with fellow army cadets to learn target
shooting skills and take part in a whole range of other
challenging and exciting activities each Tuesday evening between
7pm and 9.30pm at the Cadet Centre on St Neots Common next to
the Rugby Club. On offer are weekend camps, expeditions in the
UK and abroad, scuba diving, off road motor cycle riding,
flights in helicopters and much more.
“We
are proud to be the only army cadet detachment in Cambridgeshire
that currently offers NRSA shooting qualifications and the
achievements of the cadets are excellent”, said Staff Sergeant
Instructor Kim Gittins. “We have been offering this type of
activity for two years now and any young person over 12 who
wishes to join in can come along, have a go and learn a new
skill.”
