Cadets from 1 Company are on their Pre Annual Camp weekend starting tonight. Both 2 and 3 Companies have already held their successful weekends.

One of the criteria of a Cadet being able to attend Annual Camp is that they have attended at least one training weekend beforehand. Homesickness can be an issue for some Cadets so we try to minimise the chances of this. For some cadets a training weekend may be the first time they have ever spent the night away from home. The way the weeknd is structured is very similar to how Annual Camp is structure, except Annual Camp is for a longer period with more activities included.

The Pre Annual Camp weekend also allows for any testing to be done, especially weapon handling tests to ensure that cadets will be safe to fire weapons. A cadet can only fire a weapon that they have been fully trained on with more senior cadets firing a wider variety of weapons. A subject that a Cadet may pass on this weekend may mean they complete a Star level which may make a difference to which Cadre the will be in at camp.
