Cambs ACF Corps of Drums Help Heroes
The Cambridgeshire ACF Corps of Drums will be taking part in the Salute for Heroes event taking part at Glemham Hall, Suffolk this weekend. This is a massive event with the organisers expecting thousands to attend over the two days. There are just loads of displays, too many to list here, for you to feast your eyes on, with plenty of stalls to peruse as well. All proceeds will be going to Help for Heroes and local charities. This is going to be an event not to be miss and a great family day out. For all the information about the event the visit the website at http://www.archantsuffolk.net/salute-our-heroes/ . We hope to see you there!
New Instructors From Cambs ACF On Their Type 1 Weekend
It’s not only Cadets that are training this weekend as the latest intake of Adult Instructors are training too. The weekend training compliments the Monday evening training the PI’s (Potential Instructors) do. Covering topics like Safety, Fieldcraft, Map & Compass and Drill they can put the things they have been taught so far into practice. With a great Adult Instructor Training Team, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and a great Training Programme the PI’s should benefit enormously from the weekend.
1 Company, Cambs ACF Prepares For Annual Camp
Cadets from 1 Company are on their Pre Annual Camp weekend starting tonight. Both 2 and 3 Companies have already held their successful weekends.
One of the criteria of a Cadet being able to attend Annual Camp is that they have attended at least one training weekend beforehand. Homesickness can be an issue for some Cadets so we try to minimise the chances of this. For some cadets a training weekend may be the first time they have ever spent the night away from home. The way the weeknd is structured is very similar to how Annual Camp is structure, except Annual Camp is for a longer period with more activities included.
The Pre Annual Camp weekend also allows for any testing to be done, especially weapon handling tests to ensure that cadets will be safe to fire weapons. A cadet can only fire a weapon that they have been fully trained on with more senior cadets firing a wider variety of weapons. A subject that a Cadet may pass on this weekend may mean they complete a Star level which may make a difference to which Cadre the will be in at camp.

Best Wishes To Members of Cambs ACF Corps of Drums
Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force would like to wish cadets from the Corps of Drums best wishes for tomorrow. Selected cadets will be on parade in London as they makeup part of a massive parade marching down the Mall for an inspection by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. The royal review in Central London and Buckingham Palace garden party are the centrepiece of the cadet movement’s 150th anniversary year and echo the centenary celebrations in July 1960 when Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh reviewed the cadet forces in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
