Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force – Make Your Mark

Fieldcraft

Fieldcraft

Fieldcraft is a skill which enables you to carry out a variety of activities with maximum safety and efficiency whilst moving across open country by day and night. The standard that you can achieve in this will also depend on your knowledge and use of skill at arms and map and compass.

This is a large section of training which includes learning self sufficiency and survival outdoors; working and moving in a section by day and night with minimum noise; and use of camouflage and concealment.

As you progress in service you will start to lead sections of cadets during fieldcraft exercises, taking decisions and using all the knowledge and skills you have been taught.

As a senior cadet you may well be presented during training with a scenario involving section fieldcraft techniques and be asked to plan a strategy to achieve a set goal. There will be many things to take into account such as the distance to travel, communication, the terrain and the number of cadets in your charge. All of your fieldcraft skills will be put to the ultimate test   -   what a challenge!
