National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) are an alternative route to
gaining a qualification that is based on a work role which assesses the
skills and knowledge required to deliver and train First Aid within the
Cadet Force.
CVQO’s Assessor and Verifier NVQs are currently only open to those
Adults who attend the ACF First Aid Trainers course or to those members
of the courses directing staff.
The NVQs on offer are:

L10 and L11 – Enables Learning through Presentation, Demonstration
and Instruction
-
A1 – Assesses Candidates through a Range of Methods
-
A2 – Assesses Candidates through Observation
-
V1 - Conduct Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process
Any Adult who is eligible to register must complete their assessor or verifier awards within 18 months of commencing their NVQ. This is in accordance with the QCA NVQ Code of Practice.
Eligibility of these NVQ are determined and allocated as follows:

L10 and L11 - Open to Adults who register during their First Aid
Trainers Course

A2 - Open to Adults who register during their First Aid Trainers

A1 - Open to Adults are invited to join the course directing staff

V1 - Open to Adults who are qualified A1 NVQ Assessors, of twelve
months and are a key member of the course directing staff
PERSONAL SKILLS AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Adults will be expected to demonstrate personal skills and specific competencies that are pertinent to their NVQ. Each NVQ carries 4 core modules for which evidence must be generated. Course assessments are also included as evidence in the Adults NVQ Portfolio in order that occupational competency is demonstrated.

An NVQ does not require the completion of a formal written assignment.
Instead, each NVQ candidate will be required to complete a portfolio of
evidence. Much of the evidence required for the portfolio will be
self-generating through the varying course assessments, skills tests,
lesson plans etc.
The successful Adult would gain an NVQ which is transferable into many
areas of employment, and are highly regarded within the civilian sector.
The award level gained would depend upon the NVQ studied.
