The Army Cadet Force (ACF) is huge, with more than 45,000 members across
the UK. We have over 1700 meeting places
called 'detachments’, each with an average of 25 cadets, and there’s
certain to be one in a city, town or village near you. You can find out
where the Cambridgeshire detachments are by visiting our ‘locations’
page. When it comes to sports, action and adventure, it’s hard to find
anything to beat the ACF.
If you are between 12
(and in year 8 at school) and 18 you can join today and spend your
weekends taking part in adventure training and sports including
abseiling, rock climbing, mountain biking, off road motorcycling,
shooting and archery. You may even get to fly in a helicopter!
Ok, so you might be
spending your Saturday afternoons up to your waist in mud, but wouldn’t
you rather be doing that – and having some memorable experiences and
making great mates – instead of hanging out all day doing nothing?
There’ll also be plenty of time to play the sports you love, because the
ACF has teams that compete at county, regional and even national level.
Each year we hold an annual camp for two weeks somewhere exciting in the UK and maybe even abroad. Some ACF
units hold their annual camps in Germany
and there are also chances to go on expeditions to places like Canada and Africa.
If you like the sound of this and can deal with action and adventure by
the bucket-load, contact us today. You’ll get to wear a free uniform,
although don’t worry - you won’t be in the Army. Our 10,000 fully
trained adult instructors will give you all the support you need to take
on the challenges of being a cadet. All we ask is that you provide a
pair of suitable military boots to carry you on the adventure of a
lifetime!
