As well as progressing through each of the star levels of the army proficiency certificate syllabus there is also opportunity for promotion. The rank structure in the ACF is very similar to the regular army, so the higher the rank you achieve the more responsibilities you will take on. Listed below is the rank ‘ladder’ and the criteria you need to meet to be eligible for promotion to that rank.

Lance Corporal |

Corporal
The next rank is full Corporal – wearing two stripes on your arm. To be eligible for this rank you must be aged 15 or over, have completed your 2 Star training, and have attended two annual camps. |

Sergeant
To achieve the rank of Sergeant - with three stripes on your arm - you must be aged 16 or over, have completed your 3 Star training, and have attended three annual camps. For this rank an ACF Overseas Expedition or Canadian ACF Course will count as one annual camp. In addition to this you need to have completed the Junior Cadet Instructors Course. |

Staff Sergeant To be eligible for promotion to Staff Sergeant you must be aged 16 or over, have completed your 3 Star training, and have attended three annual camps. In addition you must also have completed the Cadet Leadership Course or the Senior Cadet Instructors Course.

Sergeant Major These are the highest
promotions usually available in the county and you will wear either a
crown (for Cadet Sergeant Major) or a Royal coat of arms badge (for
Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major). You must be aged 16 or over, have
completed your 4 Star training, and have attended three annual camps. To
