Basic Cadre

The basic cadet cadre held at Waterbeach training centre over Easter weekend was full of hard work and achievement - but there was also time for a bit of fun and frivolity. Apart from challenging cadet activities which included fieldcraft, shooting, first aid, map & compass and drill for the 58 youngsters aged from 12 to 15, there were tales of high jinx and also rumours of items going up the flag pole. At the end of the course the cadets were awarded Heart Start First Aid Certificates and other awards for their endeavour and success.  Cadet Jake Thompson (14) took the title of best cadet and the award for most improved cadet went to Cadet Harry Atkinson (12). All cadets and staff received an official Easter egg for their contributions.

Take a look at the photos and see if you can spot the instructor with an upside down cap badge!!  (jokingly switched by his colleagues of course!) There is even a Lt. Matt Murfitt look alike photo and because of the feather 'hackle' on her beret Officer Cadet Rachel Cox received not only the nick name 'budgie' - but also some trill for those hungry moments........   and anyway what is that up the flag pole and who is that in the gas mask?
