High Sheriff Visits Ely Cadets
Lady Alison De Ramsey, newly appointed High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, took time out of her busy schedule to visit Ely Detachment open evening on Tuesday 5th May 2009. With the current Mayor of Ely, Sheila Friend-Smith and the Mayor designate, Councillor Richard Hobbs, Lady De Ramsey was treated to displays of rifle and foot drill, fieldcraft cooking and section battle tactics. Light refreshments were served courtesy of SSI Storey's mum and everyone had a great time. It was Cadet CSM Jeremy Latham's last duty as a cadet, so the proceedings also included fond farewells and a speech by Company Commander Major Tony Scales.
