X Flags Signals Course
27 Cadets and 9 Instructors from Cambridgeshire and Suffolk ACF took part in the week long course which started on Easter Sunday. Following on from the Radio Users Course this is more in-depth and demanding. Voice procedure, line equipment (telephone and exchanges), battle code (BATCO), putting up masts and antenna and some basic electrical theory are all part of the course. There is a good mix of classroom and practical work and although this is a challenging course all the cadets thoroughly enjoyed it. The week finished with a mast competition with 4 teams battling it out to put up a mast in the fastest time while ensuing safety procedures are adhered to. On the final parade prizes were presented, the best cadet cup went to Cdt Lauren Stevenson of Talavera Detachment. The cadets were also presented with their certificate and X Flag badges, all presentations were made by Lt. Colonel Jackie Allen, TD the Deputy Chief Executive of East Anglia RFCA. All the cadets also went away with; yes you guessed it, an Easter egg!

The cadets and instructors would like to thank Chef David Miller and Kitchen Porter Tracy McLaughlin for the amount of choice, high standard of food and the excellent service they provided. Having also enjoyed their time with us they have decided to come on board as Instructors.
