Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force – Make Your Mark
Coach Kevin Takes The Honours

Local Army Cadet Instructor Kevin Pilcher from Cambridge has achieved top acclaim in national Territorial Army Association rifle shooting championships.

Competitors from the Regular and Territorial Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and cadet services were invited to take part in the ‘Match 13’ small bore annual target shooting event held between November 2007 and February 2008.

Using.22 calibre target rifles, each marksman shot a series of six targets to achieve their best score which was then submitted by post for comparison with others submitted from around the UK. Shooting his targets at the Pye Rifle Club in Elizabeth Way, Cambridge, eagle eyed Kevin (49) a Lieutenant with Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force, had no trouble in achieving a fine score of 577 out of a possible 600 earning him the coveted awards of team badge, chevron and national tie.

Kevin, who lives with his wife Sindy in Linden Close, Cambridge is no stranger to shooting. “I have been involved with shooting since I was nine”, he said. “As the County Shooting Officer with the county army cadet force I regularly get to coach young people in shooting skills and it’s good to shoot competitively myself once in a while”

At a private ceremony held on 26th January at Cadet Headquarters, Waterbeach, Kevin was presented with his trophies by Colonel Roger Herriot, Commandant of Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.
