After four years as Cambridgeshire Army
Cadet Force Public Relations Officer Captain Tony Ansell is
taking up a new role on 1st October 2009 – and his successor
is none other than his current deputy – Staff Sergeant
Instructor Helen Matthews from Chatteris.
Helen, (37) – who previously served
with Bedfordshire Army Cadet Force - has been with
Cambridgeshire Army Cadets for the past four years. Her
service includes being second in command at Ramsey
Detachment and three years as “I am really looking forward to being
the main focus for PR activities in the County”, said
Helen. “And I shall be counting on the support of everyone
in the organisation to make sure we always take centre
stage with our news and achievements” Captain Ansell’s new role as Eastern
Region Corporate Communications Officer is located with
East Anglia Reserve Forces & Cadets Association. Plans to
appoint 13 officers in similar roles throughout the “The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation primarily aimed at developing young people to become good citizens”, said Tony. “It is often mislabelled solely as a recruiting tool for the armed services. This is untrue. Youngsters who have an interest in the services are supported in their career choice, however many others chose to leave with BTEC and Duke of Edinburgh Awards to take their place in civilian life well equipped for a future of achievement.”
