Star Radio 107.9/1FM the local radio station for
Cambridge and Ely and Arqiva Commercial Radio Station of the
year for 2009/10, has teamed up with Cambridgeshire Army Cadet
Force to help celebrate a historic year.
The UK’s cadet movement is celebrating a century and a
half of support to young people with hundreds of events
all over the country throughout 2010, all designed to
promote the movement and encourage people of all ages to
get involved. The year of celebration is entitled Cadet150
and Her Majesty The Queen is Patron.
Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force contacted Star Radio to
invite them to become a partner for this celebratory year.
The aim was to challenge presenters in different aspects
of what the cadets and instructors are involved with, and
to help listeners gain a better understanding of what the
cadet forces have to offer while dispelling some of the
myths.
Award winning presenter Ryan Taylor (22), winner of the
Arqiva Best Newcomer Award 2009/10 and
presenter of the
mid morning weekdays show 10am- 2pm, answered the
call with keen interest. Even though Ryan has an already
hectic schedule he is hoping to attend some of the main
events and include podcasts on his page of the Star Radio
website. Talking of the partnership Ryan said “The cadet
forces offer young people many different opportunities.
Working with the Army Cadet Force we hope to give an
overview of what it is like to be a cadet and an
instructor. Throughout 2010 we will try and cover many
different aspects of cadet life and see how they celebrate
their special year”.
Lieutenant
Colonel Mark Knight MBE (54), Deputy Commandant of
Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force, is the counties Cadet150
manager; he said “Teaming up with Star Radio will provide
us with a first class media vehicle to promote cadet150 to
our local community. We are extremely lucky and grateful
to have their support”. To find out more about Star Radio visit their website at www.star107.co.uk |
