The Cadets aged 13 years to 18 years, led by Cadet Drum
Major Duncan Elliot (18) from Chesterton, topped the bill
at the international event. They performed a selection of
marching tunes in front of an audience in excess of 2000
people over the evenings of the 8th & 9th
October. On
the second night in Malta, after a day of rehearsals, the
cadets entertained a growing crowd on the seafront
opposite the hotel. The crowd were so impressed with the
performance that many purchased the ‘Spirit of The Fens’
CD recorded by the Corps last year.

In addition to two arena displays the cadets also marched
through the village of Birgu as part of the village
weekend festival, where, on reaching the Market Square,
they entertained the crowd for some twenty minutes. They
played a varied repertoire of both marching tunes and more
modern and contemporary tunes arranged by their Musical
Director, Lt John Shaw.
They had time to carry out visits to Historic
Valetta and Fort Rinella where they were treated to tours
of the fort and demonstrations of weaponry used in
Victorian times, when the Fort was a British Army Outpost.

Capt. Lynn Herriot the officer commanding said “This was a
tremendous experience for the cadets several of whom had
never travelled abroad before. They gave an impressive
performance of which we were all immensely proud”.
